William Bill D. Crisp

June 20, 1966 — October 25, 2024

Hyden, KY

William "Bill D." Crisp, a stalwart of the community and a cherished family man, bravely departed this life on October 25, 2024, with the devotion of his loved ones enveloping him. Born on June 20, 1966, in Hazard, Kentucky, the son of Joyce Crisp and the late Seaton "Buck" Crisp.  William was a beacon of loyalty and love in the lives he touched. A life long resident of Leslie County and a proud member of the Resurrection Church. He graduated from Leslie County High School, where his kind spirit began to shine brightly, a precursor to the profound impact he would have on those around him.

For twelve years, Bill D. poured his heart into the mines at Shamrock Coal Co., embodying the hard work and tenacity that defined his character. But the allure of the open road and the thrill of engines beckoned him, leading him to own and operate Crisp Car Care  starting in 1998. It was here that he shared not just his mechanical prowess also his warmth and humor with the friends who frequented his shop, leaving an imprint that was both lasting and cherished.

Every so often, the call of the outdoors would draw Bill from the comforts of home. His spirits soared in nature's embrace, whether he was hunting deer or working on building race cars and racing them—one for himself and one for his beloved brother, Shannon. That passion for both Dirt car racing and Nascar racing were no mere pastime; it was a part of his identity. A proud member of the pit crew for the NASCAR ARCA Series, Bill demonstrated an unwavering enthusiasm for motorsports, fervently cheering for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt.

Family and friendship were the pillars upon which he built his life. Bill's heart pulsed with devotion to his cherished mother, Joyce Crisp, of Wooton, KY, and his loving and devoted wife, Patricia Amos Crisp, to whom he was united in marriage on September 1, 2014 also from Wooton. He took immense pride in being a father, leaving behind two daughters, Lola Amanda Collett (Justin) of Asher, KY, and Paige Lorraine Perry  (Cody) of Corbin, KY, who will carry forth his legacy of perseverance and love. His three grandchildren, Kinley Rae Perry, Jackson Ryan Collett, and Kaylee Blake Perry, his nieces and nephews Kelsey Crisp  (Billy Clay Case), Seaton Brady Crisp  (Haley Shanks), Eli Crisp and Kori Crisp, all held a special place in his heart, their laughter echoing in the cherished memories he created. Bill's bond with his two brothers, Shannon Crisp (Birgit) of Wooton, KY, and Kyle Crisp (Brittney) of Hyden, KY, exemplified the deep-rooted familial connections he treasured.

Even in his final hours, Bill was resolute, demonstrating a steadfast loyalty by calling his friends from his deathbed, a testament to the unwavering connections he fostered throughout his life. He is predeceased by his father, Seaton "Buck" Crisp, and loving in-laws, Roger and Josephine Amos and a beloved friend Danny Baker.

William "Bill D." Crisp leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter, a gentle giant whose spirit continues to inspire all who knew him. Axel, his cherished pet dog and loyal confidant, now sits vigil, a silent sentinel to the memories shared and the love that will always endure. As we remember Bill, we share not just the weight of our grief but the joy of his life, a vibrant tapestry woven together by the threads of family, friendship, and the great outdoors he so dearly loved.
