Steven A. Smith

Steven A. Smith, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated member of his community, passed away peacefully at his residence in Hyden, Kentucky on October 25, 2025. Born on January 26, 1968 in Hazard, Kentucky, Steven led a life marked by service, achievement, and a deep love for his family.

After proudly serving in the United States Army as a member of the 101 Airborne Division, Steven returned to civilian life and embarked on a distinguished career with General Electric Aviation in Cincinnati, Ohio. He retired as the Maintenance and Engineering Supervisor, having contributed significantly to the company's operations over the years.

Steven's academic foundation included a Bachelor's Degree, which equipped him with the knowledge and skills that paved the way for his professional success. Beyond his career, he found immense joy in his hobbies, which included collecting guns and knives, as well as cherishing moments with his beloved pet dogs, Giovonni and Levi.

His legacy lives on through his loving wife, Candi Knight, and their family. He is survived by one son, Cody Smith and wife Candace of Benton, Kentucky; one daughter, LeAnn Lamb and her husband Reeve of Murray, Kentucky; two brothers, Larry Smith and his wife Melody of Cumberland, Kentucky, and Chris Smith and his wife Tammie of Happy, Kentucky; and three stepchildren, Seth Akemon, Shenaya Akemon, and Keely Akemon. Steven was also a proud grandfather to five treasured grandchildren: Roman, Zeke, Grayson, Noah, and Abel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vadis and Mary Cress Smith, and one sister, Angie Baker, who are remembered fondly by all who knew them.

Steven A. Smith will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will carry his memory in their hearts. His unwavering spirit and dedication to those he loved have left an enduring mark that will not be forgotten.

Graveside service will be on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Smith Family Cemetery on Dryhill Road, Hyden, KY, with Rev. Don Pinson and Rev. Josef Knight officiating.
