Roger Witt, born on December 25, 1958 in Hyden, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was 67 years old. Roger was a devoted brother, cherished uncle, and beloved member of his extended family, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Roger’s journey began in the hills of Hyden, where he grew up surrounded by a close-knit family. Throughout his life, he carried with him the virtues of kindness and steadfastness, always remembered for his quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering generosity. He touched the lives of those around him with sincerity and a genuine concern for the well-being of others.
He is survived by his loving sisters, Rosetta Witt Callahan & husband, Tim, Tina Witt, and Trina Michelle Witt & Jimmy Morgan, each of whom held a special place in his heart also, His nieces, Charletta Morgan Kilburn & husband Mike, Cortney Farmer and Katelinde Deaton, and nephews, Michael Scott Howard, Rodney Lynn Howard, Tristin Hacker, Brandon Farmer, and Brent Farmer.
Roger’s life was shaped by the loving memory of those who went before him. He was predeceased by his father, Cecil Witt, his mother, Bernadine Witt, his sisters, Henrietta Witt Morgan and Martha Kaye Witt Farmer, and his nephew, Larry Dean Morgan. Although gone from this world, their spirits live on in the stories and memories that Roger and his family cherished and passed on to future generations.
Roger’s legacy is one of quiet dignity, loyalty, and a profound love for family. He faced life’s joys and challenges with courage and humility, always seeking to lift up those around him. Those who knew Roger will remember his heartfelt wisdom, his calming presence, and the simple, enduring kindness that marked his days.
As his family, we are grateful for the time we shared with Roger, and though our hearts grieve his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his love and example continue to guide us. Roger Witt will be fondly remembered, forever honored, and always missed.
