Rebecca L. Morgan, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. She was 90 years old. Born on December 23, 1935, in Smilax, Kentucky, Rebecca cultivated a life marked by resilience, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to her family and loved ones.

Rebecca was the cherished daughter of Taylor Lewis and Minerva Day Lewis, both of whom preceded her in death. Growing up in a lively and loving household in Smilax, she shared her early years with her siblings who had preceded her in death, Guy, Dexter, and Willie Lewis, and sisters Eunice, Georgia Kilburn, Rose Feltner, Leila Lewis, Clydia Combs, and Josephine Engle. Their closeness helped shape Rebecca’s enduring spirit and fostered the deep sense of kinship that defined her character. The memories and connections forged during these years remained a source of comfort and inspiration to her throughout her life.

Rebecca had a very distinguished career in education and socal services. She attended the University of Kentucky and taught school in the Leslie Co School System.  Rebecca taught for a number of years at the "Hope House" in Hyden, Ky. She retired as a Case Worker for the KY. Dept. of Social Services in Hyden Kentucky. Rebecca had a sincere and genuine concern for each of her students and clients. She was a dedicated & faithful member of the Rockhouse Baptist Church, Hyden, Kentucky.  Rebecca enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, reading, quilting, painting, sewing, crocheting, watching golf on T.V. and listening to music.  She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, George Douglas "Bud" Morgan, with whom she built a loving home and created a legacy of family and togetherness.

Rebecca leaves behind a devoted family, each touched by her strength and kindness. She is survived by her son Craig Morgan (Ruth), her daughter Carolyn Ethel Morgan Johnson (William Ed), granddaughter Cynthia Henson (Kevin), as well as her grandson Jeffery Boggs. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends survive. Every member of her family knew Rebecca as a guiding light—someone whose wisdom was matched only by her limitless affection.

Rebecca L. Morgan’s presence will be deeply missed, yet her love and example will continue to guide her family and friends for generations to come.
