Randy Collett

Randy Collett, a cherished father, husband, and beloved member of the community, left this earth peacefully to be with the Lord on June 21, 2026. He passed comfortably in the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, KY at the age of 62. 

Randy was born in Stinnett, Kentucky on October 28, 1963 where he lived his entire life.

Randy loved animals, UK basketball, riding four-wheelers, motorcycles, and playing like the big kid he was. Randy loved racing RC cars, reading to his children, playing video games with them, and doing a very convincing impression of Donald Duck that everyone enjoyed. Randy also loved going out on the pontoon, fishing, turkey hunting, riding four-wheelers, washing the cars, anything that involved the whole family. Randy was a family man above all, teaching and instilling his work ethics and values in his children.

Randy married the love of his life, Tina, in May 1985, welcoming their first child in December 1990 and second in July 1992. 

Randy devoted 39 years to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 11, enjoying serving the community of Leslie County and keeping the roads safe and passable until his retirement in 2019. 

After retirement, Randy enjoyed garden food the most, sitting on the porch, and spending as much time as possible with his family. He devoted his life to his animals, riding his side by side, and taking walks on the strip job above Knoblick. When Parkinson’s Disease overtook Randy’s body, he spent all of his time at home being cared for by his loving wife and children. 

Randy faithfully attended Grassy Branch Pentecostal church for many, many years until his health declined and he could no longer attend. 

Randy is survived by his wonderful and devoted wife who became the best caretaker, Tina; his two children, Randall Collett and Amy Jean McKinney (Matthew); the woman who raised him, Linda Patricia (Trish) Smith; one sister Mildred Johnson (David) ; best friend Ed House; and Randy’s precious 13 year old grand-dog who never left his side on Earth, Caesar. Randy also leaves behind a large host of family friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Joyce Morgan and Rev. Fred Collett; one sister, Maxine Lewis; one brother, Carlos Hill; and best friend lovingly called by his children “Papaw Sam” Samuel Caldwell.

The family would also like to extend a sincere appreciation and thank you to his two caregivers during his illness: Shay Holland and Anita Maggard.

Funeral services for Randy Collett will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 1pm at the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church with Patrick Morgan, Jerry Maggard, and James Bowling, Jr officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 starting at 6pm at the church. Burial will follow at the Carl Morgan Cemetery (Knoblick Rd) in Stinnett, Kentucky.

VISITATION: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2026 STARTING AT 6PM AT THE CHURCH.
