Mr. Ralph Lewis of Hyden, KY. passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. at the age of 87. Ralph was born October 20, 1931 in Hyden, KY., the son of the late, Roy Lewis & Mallie Maggard Lewis. He was a life-long resident of Leslie Co. Ralph was a self-employed carpenter. He had the reputation of being a master craftsman, especially in woodworking & concrete. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served honorably in the Korean War. Ralph was very active & devoted to local community service. He was a devoted member of the Hyden Volunteer Fire Dept., having been instrumental in the founding of the first fire department in Leslie Co. He served as captain for many years. Ralph was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church-EPC., Hyden, Ky. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry work & especially spending time with his family.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Loving & devoted wife, Mary Rose Sizemore Lewis, brother, George & sister, Thadene Nance. He leaves the following relatives surviving, beloved daughter, Teresa Lewis Joseph & husband, Billy Joe, Hyden, KY. & treasured grandson, David James Wells & Tonya Foley, Hazard, KY. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives & friends survive.
Funeral: Sunday, May 5, 2019 @ 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.
Minister: Merle Caudill
Interment: Maggard Cemetery, Hyden, KY.
