Paul Gale Rice, a retired coal miner with over 40 years of service at Consol Energy, Shamrock and Leeco Coal Companies, bid farewell to this world on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the University of KY. Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Born April 7, 1954, in Confluence KY, Paul was a dedicated husband to his late wife, Roberta. His humble nature and unwavering to helping others defined him as a man of integrity.
In his dedicated career as a coal miner, Paul earned a reputation for dependability hard work. He navigated the depths of the earth with a steadfast determination that was matched only by his love for his family. Though deeply rooted in his profession, Paul prioritized his family above all else.
Outside of work, Paul found joy in simple pleasures - from hunting and fishing to scouring yard sales for hidden treasures. An avid fan of auto mechanics and the restoration of antique cars, he poured his heart into these hobbies with unwavering dedication. Paul loved his dog, "Rebel Jane" and always thoroughly enjoyed a good chew of tabacco.
Paul's memory will be cherished by his surviving family; one loving daughter, Ashley Gibson & her husband Chris of Hyden, KY; two cherished sons: Richard Paul Rice & Cheyanna Napier of Wooton, KY; James Albert Rice & wife Ashley Caldwell Rice of East Bernstadt, KY. He is also survived by two sisters: Kathryn Bailey & her husband Jr. of Confluence, KY; Sandra Johnson of Hazard, KY; one brother-in-law: Alexander Begley of Richlands, VA; five grandchildren: Samantha Rice & Donnie Begley, Trenton Rice, Raylen Rice, Grayson Rice and Kameron Rice; as well as one great-grandchild: Arianna Begley, & special friends: Delano Huff, Stanley Eversole & Harold Brown.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Albert & Christine Colwell Rice; his loving and devoted wife Roberta Rice ( to whom he was united in marriage on April 27, 1986), sister Martha Regina Begley; and infant grandson Gunner Rice.
The funeral service for Mr. Paul Rice will be conducted at 1:00 P.M - Wednesday - May 15, 2024 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Amundsen officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 1:00 P.M. - Wednesday. The interment will follow the service at the Rice Family Cemetery, Confluence, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers :Ritchie Rice, Trenton Rice, Donnie Begley, Chris Gibson, Rodney Sizemore, Joey Wright, Casey Huff & Kenneth Ray Purvis.
In every aspect of life - be it work or family - Paul Gale Rice embodied the values of selflessness and commitment. His presence will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to know him. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy lives on through those he loved and touched along the way.
