Patricia Carol Young

Patricia Carol Young, born on March 21, 1944, in Lotts Creek, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 20 2024, at the Good Shepherd Health & Rehab Center in Phelps, Kentucky at the age of 80.

Patricia dedicated a significant part of her life to her role as a waitress at Francis's Diner in Hazard, where her friendly demeanor and dedication to her patrons made her a beloved figure in the community. Patricia’s warm spirit extended beyond her work; she touched the hearts of many, bringing joy through her interests and hobbies. An avid lover of flowers, crossword puzzles, and reading, she found beauty and inspiration in the simple pleasures of life.

Patricia leaves behind two cherished sons, Kerman Wendell Whitaker & Dawn, and Gregory Brian Whitaker & Christy. She was also a devoted mother to her daughter, Laura Denise Woods & Jerry. Her family includes a brother, Corbin Young & Nella, and a sister, Natalie Grigsby & Tim, who will all remember her with love and fondness. Patricia’s legacy continues through her eight treasured grandchildren—Tonda Collins & Terry, Amy Vires, Christopher Johnson & Lakeesha, Paige Baughman & Matt, Isaac Whitaker & Jasmine, Holly Johnson, Courtney Hoskins, Ryan Woods & Katie—as well as her eighteen treasured great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Kerman Young & Stella Ritchie Young, her cherished daughter, Tonya Karen Sams, and her brother, Osvil Young. Patricia's family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing her will carry forward her loving memory and the impact she made in their lives.

Funeral: Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY

Interment: Young Family Cemetery, (Young's Fork) Hazard, KY

Pallbearers: Christopher Johnson, Jimmy Darrell Fouts, Jerry Woods, Terry Collins and B.J. Young

Visitation: Wednesday, October 23, 2024 a 6:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
