Monroe "Blue Boy" Thomas

Monroe "Blue Boy" Thomas, passed away Wednesday January 30, 2019 at the Mary Breckinridge-ARH Hospital, in Hyden, KY. at the age of 54. He was born on June 22, 1964 at Hyden, KY the son of Eileen Gay Thomas and the late Jim Thomas. By occupation he was a former Security Guard for R. J. Reclamation Co.  He was affiliated with the Peter's Branch Church of Christ and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County. Monroe was served honorably and was retired from the Cutshin Volunteer Fire Department. Monroe enjoyed hunting, fishing, coon hunting, and story telling. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, and friends and especially his grandchildren. Monroe was preceded in death by his father: Jim Thomas, Father and Mother-In-Law: John Henry & Pauline Pennington, Grandmother: Eva Gay, and one treasured angel grandchild. He leaves surviving the following relatives: mother: Eileen Gay Thomas of Yeaddiss, KY, Loving & Devoted wife: Shirley Mae of Hyden, KY, one son: Danny Thomas & Kayla of Slemp, KY, Two Daughters: Brittany Joseph & Jonathan of Wooton, KY, Mary Salmons & Jeremy of Oneida, KY, Two Brothers: James Aubrey Thomas of Yeaddiss, KY, Floyd George Thomas of Yeaddiss, KY, four sisters: Sara Lily St. Michaels of California, Janet Turner of Wooton, KY, Myrena Thomas of Newport, KY, Mara Thomas of Covington, KY, 9 grandchildren: Hunter, Emmy, Ryder, Gracie, Rosie, Jonathan, Leslie, Dayton and one to be born. Three nephews, Christopher Higdon & Cortney, Robert Higdon & Erica, Chase Pennington, one niece, Silva Eversole, special Brother and sister-In-Law & best friends: April Eversole Pennington and Elvis Pennington.   You may send your condolences to the family @dwaynewalkerfuneralhome.com
