Mary Helen Maggard Hensley

Mary Helen Maggard Hensley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. She was 67 years old.  Born on July 26, 1958, in Hazard, Kentucky, she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Mary dedicated many of her working years as a cook at Baker's Miners Market, where she not only perfected her culinary skills but also formed lasting friendships with colleagues and customers alike. She was known for her warm smile and inviting presence, qualities that extended well beyond her professional life.

In her personal time, Mary found joy in nurturing her garden, surrounded by vibrant flowers that mirrored her passion for nature. Collecting antiques was another hobby that brought her happiness, as she appreciated the stories and history behind each unique piece. Her zest for life was evident in all that she did, and her interests were a reflection of her vibrant spirit.

Mary is survived by her father, Carl Ed Maggard; her husband, Terry Hensley; her son, Terry Hensley, Jr. and Becky; her brother, Carl Maggard and Dallie; her sisters, Patti Adams and Ronnie, and Jean Miller and Jerry. She was also a devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren, Katy Hensley, Isabella Hensley, and Gabriella Hensley. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Ann Stamper Maggard, and her brothers, Gary Maggard and Wendall Maggard. Their memories will forever be cherished alongside hers, as she joins them in eternal peace.

Mary Helen Maggard Hensley’s life was a testament to the strength of family bonds and the importance of nurturing relationships. Her gentle spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral: Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ, Smilax, KY.
