Martha Raye Mosley

Martha Raye Couch Mosley, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Well's Hospice Center, Hazard, KY. She was 80 years old. Raye was born December 3, 1940 in Jackson, KY., the daughter of the late, Astor Couch and Nette Melton Couch. Raye had been a resident of Hyden since 1957. She lived in Hazard until she was 15. Raye was a graduate of Eastern Ky. University.  She had a very distinguished career in education.  Raye was a retired elementary school teacher for the Leslie Co. School System having taught at Hyden Elementary for 36 years . Raye was a devoted member of the Central Presbyterian Church EPC in Hyden where she served as the pianist, an elder, trustee & taught at the summer Vacation Bible School. She was dedicated to the Wednesday night Bible Study at her Church. Raye was also very community oriented. She served as a member of the Leslie Co Public Library Board and volunteered at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital gift shop for numerous years. She enjoyed walking, especially with her dog Artie and spending time with her daughter and grandson. 

Raye was preceded in death by her beloved parents. She leaves surviving; her loving and devoted husband, Glenn Mosley, Hyden, KY., cherished daughter, Kendall Mosley, Hyden, KY.,  a treasured grandson, David Morgan, Hyden and sister, Kaye Stamper (Russell), Beattyville, KY. Also a host of cousins, other relatives and friends survive.

Graveside Service will be Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery South East, Hyden, KY.
