Margaret Hoskins Bowling, a cherished educator and beloved member of her community, peacefully passed away on January 15, 2026, at the Hyden Health & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 93.  Margaret was born on July 29, 1932, in Stinnett, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Walter Hoskins and Laura Morgan Hoskins, She dedicated her life to teaching and nurturing the minds of her students, leaving behind a lasting legacy of influence and compassion.

Margaret retired as a teacher in the Leslie County School System, where she began her career in one-room schools at Elisha's Creek, Stinnett, and Jack's Creek. With her vibrant passion for education, she taught all subjects, later focusing on art, which reflected her deep love for drawing. Keith her son had fond memories of going to school with his mother as a child riding in a Jeep. Margaret was not only a skilled educator but also an active member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. She devoted her time to engaging with the senior citizens' centers in Stinnett and Hyden, embodying her gracious and humble personality.

Her commitment to her students extended beyond academics; Margaret prioritized their well-being, often providing clothing and supplies for those in need. Her genuine concern for her pupils showcased her giving nature and highlighted her unwavering faith, which played a significant role throughout her life.

Margaret's proudest accomplishments included the success of her two sons, Keith Bowling and Reverend James Bowling, Jr. Margaret's guidance and support, alongside the influence of her late husband, James Bowling Sr., were instrumental in shaping their paths in ministry, a testament to her profound impact on her family and community.

Margaret is survived by her loving family, including her son, Keith Bowling and his wife, Kathy; her son, Rev. James Bowling, Jr. and his wife, Celdrin; her sisters, Laverna Roberts, Norma Jean Bowling, Jewell Hoskins;  Betty Baker and her husband, Wayne, and Judy Stubblefield and her husband, Ronnie. treasured grandchildren, Heather Bowling, Keisha Bowling, Kelly Swafford & husband, Homer, Beth Johnson and her husband, Nathan, treasured great-grandchildren, Jamis Johnson, Jude Caudill & wife, Jayla, Jace Caudill, Jackson Johnson, Kiera Caudill, Colton Bailey & two treasured great, great, granchildren - twins , Miah & Gracelynn.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Bowling, Sr.; her parents, Walter Hoskins and Laura Morgan Hoskins; her brother, James Hoskins; her sisters, Zelma Ruth Wagers and Beulah Napier; and several nephews and a niece, including James Hoskins, Jr., Tommy Hoskins, and Iva Wagers, along with brothers-in-law, Carlo Wagers, Virgil Roberts, Vernon Bowling, Vernon Napier, and Richard P. Bowling.

Margaret's love for reading and travel enhanced her life experiences, shaping her into the multifaceted individual she was. The warmth of her spirit and the positive impressions she left on others will be cherished forever.

A visitation with family will be held on January 21, 2026, from 6 PM to 10 PM at Stinnett Pentecostal Church located at 2490 Hyw. 408, Stinnett, KY. A funeral service will take place the following day on January 22, 2026, at 2 PM, also at Stinnett Pentecostal Church with Rev. James Bowling, Jr., Keith Bowling officiating.  The interment will follow in the Walter Hoskins Family Cemetery, Stinnett, KY. 

The following will serve as pallbearers,Jude Caudill, Jamis Johnson, Jackson Johnson, Colton Bailey, Jeff Napier, Pat Baker, Walter Stubblefield & Billy Hoskins.

Margaret Hoskins Bowling will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her, and her legacy of love and commitment to education will continue to inspire many.
