Lorrine Asher Shepherd Bailey, a woman whose life was defined by unwavering devotion to her family and faith, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at Mary Breckinridge ARH Hospital in Hyden, Kentucky at the age of 78. Lorrine was born on December 10, 1947, in Beverly, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Kelly Asher & Lois Brummett Asher. Lorrine’s journey through life was marked by strength, sacrifice, and boundless love.
A proud and faithful member of the River Side Baptist Church in Beverly, Kentucky, Lorrine found her greatest joy and accomplishment in her faith and her family. Those who knew her recognized her as a very strong-willed, loving, and giving individual who placed the happiness and well-being of her loved ones above all else.
Lorrine’s family was truly the center of her world. She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother, with an incomparable love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with each family member and was known for creating warm and lasting memories, especially during the holidays when her excellent baking skills were celebrated by all. Her pumpkin rolls, cookies, and candy were beloved treats that added sweetness to family gatherings.
Beyond her talent in the kitchen, Lorrine’s interests included vegetable and flower gardening as well as sewing, pursuits that reflected her nurturing spirit and creative heart. These hobbies brought her joy and were further expressions of her dedication to cultivating beauty and care in her home and life.
Lorrine is survived by her sons, Matthew Shepherd and Barbara, Ricky Shepherd and Stephanie, and Donald Shepherd and Tracy; her brothers Bentley Asher and Opal, and Cleveland Asher and Elsie; her sister Ruth Ann Bradford; and her treasured grandchildren Sierra Shepherd, Joshua Shepherd, Leah Collett, Alicia Shepherd, Kelli Shepherd, and Kade Shepherd, treasured great - grandchildren, Sienna Collett, Kora Long & Callie Collett. Their lives were deeply enriched by her wisdom and unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kelly Asher; mother, Lois Brummett Asher; former husband and father of her children, Donald Shepherd; second husband, David Bailey; brother, Hobert Asher; and brother-in-law, Dennis Bradford.
Family and friends will come together to honor and remember Lorrine’s remarkable life at New Hope Community Church, located on War Branch Road in Kentucky. A visitation will be held on Wednesday -June 17, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service on Thursday -June 18, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Jimmy Ward, Rev. Ronnie Melton & Rev. Tommy Hubbard officiating. The interment will follow the funeral service on Thursday in the Asher Orchard Hollow Cemetery, located at Warbranch, Ky. The following will serve as pallbearers, Charles Collett, Robbie Contrell, Kade Shepherd, Martin Asher, Greg Wells, Jacoby Banks & Kevin Smallwood.
Lorrine Asher Shepherd Bailey’s legacy of steadfast faith, deep familial love, and generous spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
