Mr. Lonzo Morgan of London, formerly of Leslie Co. passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the St. Joseph Hospital in London, KY. at the age of 79. Lonzo was born May 29, 1940 at Stinnett, Ky., the son of the late, Matt Morgan & Lucy Mosley Morgan. Lonzo had been a resident of London, KY for the past year and half, prior to living at Essie, KY. & Dayton, Ohio. By occupation Lonzo had worked as a self-employed carpenter in Dayton building homes & as a coal miner for Shamrock Coal Co. He was one of the charter members that founded the Stinnett Volunteer Fire Dept. he served as a active fire fighter for 33 years. Lonzo was a member of the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church at Essie, Ky. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling & especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Lonzo was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Roscoe Morgan & Tinsley Morgan, 1 nephew, Jamie Morgan, 2 nieces, Diane Merrell & Kim Morgan & 2 brothers-in-law, Tommy Baker & Don Hatfield & 1 sister-in-law, Therese Smith. He leaves the following relatives surviving; his loving & devoted wife, Betty Jean Smith Morgan of London, KY., 1 beloved son, Terry Smith of Mozelle, KY., 1 beloved daughter, Sherie Morgan Collett (David) of London, KY., 1 brother, Mack Morgan (Becky) of Eaton, OH., 3 sisters, Jane Hatfield of Hebron, KY., Lorene Baker, Kettering, OH. & Margie Smith (Orphus) of Somerset, KY., 5 treasured grandchildren, Tyson Collett (Cassie), Trystan Collett (Kennedy), Bradford Smith, John Smith & Amanda Smith (Drew), 3 treasured great grandchildren, Daisy Collett, Charlee Collett & Ronan Land Smith & brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Daniel Smith, Jr. (Maxine), Zelma Morgan (Ray), Wayne Smith, Donnie Smith (Elizabeth), Earl Smith, Linda Napier (Ronald Dean) & Jan Smith. Also a host of nieces, nephews & other relatives & friends survive.

Funeral:

Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church, Essie, KY.

Visitation:

Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY. & Wednesday at 12:00 Noon at the Church

Interment:

Smith Family Cemetery, Essie, KY.
