Lonnie James Begley, a beloved member of the Hyden community, passed away peacefully at his residence in Hyden, KY on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on May 5, 1962, in Hyden, Lonnie was a proud graduate of Leslie County High School and went on to carve a commendable career as a coal miner. In addition, he spent 5-6 years contributing to the telecommunications industry, showcasing his versatility and dedication to hard work.
As a veteran of the U.S. Army, Lonnie honorably served his country, a testament to his commitment and courage. His life was rich with experiences, and he embraced each moment with an enthusiasm that was infectious. Lonnie had a wealth of interests that defined him; he found joy in motorcycle and ATV riding, played the drums with passion, and captured the beauty of life through photography. However, it was his love for family that stood paramount in his life. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with his loved ones, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.
Lonnie is survived by his son, Cameron Begley (Jessica), and his daughter, Vanna Begley. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Hunter Braxton Begley, Abagail Larue Begley, Arabella Begley, and Malachi Begley. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother, Larry Begley (Millie), along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Garrett Begley and Hannah Collins Begley; his son, Jordan Tyler Begley; his brother, Garrett Michael Begley; and his sisters, Linda Gail Begley and Deborah Lynn Begley Baker. In this time of sorrow, those who knew Lonnie are invited to remember the laughter and love he brought into their lives. His spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who loved him, ensuring that his impact will be felt for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the funeral home toward Mr. Begley's expenses.
