Loma Jean Rookard, 81, was born November 15, 1944, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. A long-time resident of Hyden, Kentucky, Loma moved to Florida eight years ago and returned to Corbin a few months ago to live with her daughter.
Loma was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Jack Hoskins; her parents, Willard and Nellie Morgan; daughter, Tina Louise Baker; and siblings: Tommy Morgan and Marilyn Walriven.
She leaves behind her loving family: her husband, Jack Rookard; daughter, Dena Williams and husband Harold; daughter, Melanie Gaspart and husband Olivier; grandchildren: Jack Douglas Rogers and wife Brigette, and Samantha Brock and husband Sean; great-grandchildren: Corey Rogers and wife Kelsie, Braidie Rogers, Cooper Rogers,, Aubrey Brock, and Maddilyn Brock; great-great-grandchild: Grayson Rogers; and siblings: Marquita Parker, Sue Parker, Angie Stratton, Marty Williams, Katie O’Donnell, Jesse Morgan, Danny Morgan, David Morgan, and Phillip Morgan, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A member of Stinnett Gap Church of God in Leslie County, Loma was a woman of faith who loved the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially cooking their favorite foods like her chicken and dumplings, described by her family as “one-of-a- kind.” She also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
Loma was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 6, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Geoff Roberts and Ryan Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily, Kentucky.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 :00 P.M. Monday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
