Mrs. Leroy Couch, age 88, of Hyden, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 2, 1937, in Hyden, Kentucky, to the late Roy Couch and Sophie Burns.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of more than 50 years, Mark Hoskins; her cherished sons, Richard David Couch and Warren Couch; her beloved granddaughter, Lisa Renee; and her siblings, Alfa Burns, Mitchell Burns, Green Burns, Bige Burns, Helen Burns-Sizemore, and Roylee Couch.
Leroy is survived by her sister, Evalee Smith of Ohio; her children, Thomas (Edith) Couch of Hyden, Theresa (Frankie) Couch of Hyden, Helen (Troy) Beringer of Belleville, IL, and Bige Couch of Indianapolis, IN; as well as her treasured granddaughters, Bridgit (Nathan) Malone of North Vernon, IN, Amanda (Richard) Couch of Hyden, and Tanya (Dale) Colwell of London, KY. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory.
Leroy dedicated nearly 40 years of service to Mary Breckinridge Hospital and later retired from the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center. She will be remembered for her passion, compassion, and genuine care for her patients and co-workers. She was an active member of her community and took great pride in her many years of involvement with the Mary Breckinridge Festival. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and could often be found sitting on her porch, a place where she found peace and joy.
She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman, generous with her time and heart, and admired for her strength and resilience. Her legacy of love, devotion, and perseverance will continue to live on through her family and all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at the Rockhouse Pentecostal Church on Saturday, September 27, 2025 with Ted Couch officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. for family and 12:00 p.m. for the public. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m., then burial at the Hurricane Cemetery, Hyden, KY.
