Josephine "Jo" Fern Acre Hudson

Josephine “Jo” Fern Acre Hudson, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the  Well’s Hospice Center in Hazard. She was 64 years old.  She was born on May 3, 1962, in Lapeer, Michigan.

Jo had been a resident of Leslie County, Kentucky since 2014. She was a former employee for the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery South East in Hyden, Kentucky. Jo enjoyed fishing, listening to music, pocket billiards and especially loved spending time with her family. 

Jo will be remembered with love by her family and all who held her close. She is survived by her treasured daughter, Morgan Faber (Marcus), and her treasured son, Curtis Lee Hudson. She also leaves behind her sisters, Donna Korula (Tom) and Lura Encinias (John). Her family circle continues through her granddaughter Leah Huizenga (Brandon), and her great-grandson Max. Also a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Keith Acre; her mother, Susan Joyce Muncy Bunch; her step-father, Jim Bunch; her husband, John Hudson; her sister, Carolyn Freese; her brother, Keith Acre, Jr. and her great-granddaughter, Holland. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives & friends survive.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home  155 Hickory Street, Hyden, Kentucky 41749. A memorial service will follow from 7:00 p.m. at the same location.

Jo’s memory lives on in the love of her children, grandchildren, sisters, and extended family. May her life be remembered with gratitude, and may those who knew and loved her find comfort in her lasting place in their hearts.
