Joseph “Joey” Morgan

Joseph Lee "Joey" Morgan was born March 31, 1981 in Hyden Kentucky. Joey is the son of Lesley Horton and Roger Morgan. He passed away in Chesapeake, Virginia on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the age of 45. Joey had been a resident of Chesapeake, Virginia for the past 7 years. Before that he had lived in San Diego for 10 years where he served in the U.S. Navy. By occupation he had worked as a Financial Operations Recovery Specialist for Elevance Health Insurance. Joey earned his Master's Degree from Penn State University and was a member of the Muncy Creek Baptist Church in Hyden, Kentucky. He had been attending the Alive Church at the Western Branch Campus in Chesapeake, Virginia. Joey enjoyed playing golf, watching football and volunteering to coach high school sports.

Joey is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hayes & Opal Morgan, maternal grandfather, William "Bill" Horton.

He leaves the following relatives surviving; wife, Jennifer L. Morgan, 2 sons, Max William Morgan and Jackson Hayes Morgan, parents, Roger Morgan and Lesley Horton, maternal grandmother, Janice Horton, half-sister, Kelsey Morgan, and special niece: Sherridan Steele. Also a host of cousins, other relatives and friends survive.

Funeral: Friday, July 24, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the Muncy Creek Baptist Church in Hyden, Kentucky
