John "Booger" Bowling

September 29, 1940 — February 25, 2024

Essie

John H. Bowling departed from a full and meaningful life on Sunday February 25, 2024 at the age of 83- surrounded by power and prayer, at home with his family. John was born on September 29, 1940 in Leslie County KY as the seventh son to Reynold Bowling and Nora Napier Bowling who resided and raised a family of 16 children in Puncheoncamp. John worked as a bus driver, as a union representative at GH&R in Dayton, Ohio, and in the coal mines at Shamrock once he and his family moved back home to Leslie County. John was an infamous storyteller who enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, pulling pranks, and cutting up. He was one of the best cooks and has fed more people than we could possibly count. More than anything though, Booger loved his family- and was especially fond of his three great grandsons. He was a dedicated caregiver to his sick loved ones, and a healer to many. He was affiliated with the Stinnett Pentecostal Church, and  attended services at Couch’s Fork Church of God. John is preceded in death by his parents Reynold & Nora; Wife Delora Hoskins Bowling;  Daughter Carmaleda Bowling; 6 brothers- Ralph Bowling (and Helen), Willie Bowling, Hershel Bowling (and Imogene), Earl Bowling, George Bowling, and Ford Bowling (and Faye); 9 sisters- Edna Bowling Reynolds (and Delbert); Alma Ducker (and Bill) ; Edith Bowling; Rose Bowling; Norma Jean Sizemore (and Paul); Pauline Helton (and Eli); Kathleen Jones (and Lester);  Joann Bowling; and Ann Howard (and William); and 2nd Wife- Goldie Salyers Bowling.

John leaves behind a host of family members and friends who will miss him including daughter Angie Bowling Morgan of Stinnett, KY; and niece who he considered a daughter Nora B. Feltner of Corinth; one grandson- Aaron Morgan (Bub); one granddaughter Deat Morgan; three great grandsons- Jasper Merritt; Tifford Merritt; and Ansel Morgan; brothers-in-law- Jack Carpenter, Paul Hoskins (and Brenda) of Stinnett; Silas Hoskins (and Sharon) of Dayton, Ohio; Pete Salyers (and Charlene) of London, KY; and Casey Saylers of London, KY; and sisters-in-law- Viola Hoskins, Patsy Hoskins of Somerset, KY; Katherine Saylers of London, KY; and Mary Proffitt of London, KY. Step children Tony Bruner, Rick Bruner (and Missy), and Vickie Begley, all of London, KY.   John is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews, of which he loved every one. John and Delora opened their home to many nieces and nephews that they loved like their children, and their door was always open. Many cherished memories of all the good times we have all shared will not be forgotten.
