J.G. Morgan, a dedicated veteran and a cherished member of the Wendover community, passed away peacefully on Monday,  April 13, 2026, at the Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was 93 years old. Born on November 13, 1932, in Wendover, Kentucky, he lived a life marked by service, commitment, and a profound connection to his roots.

J.G. proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, exemplifying devotion and patriotism. Following his military service, he continued to serve his community through his work with the Frontier Nursing Service in Wendover, where he dedicated many years before retiring. His career was a testament to his steadfast dedication to improving the lives of others in his beloved Kentucky.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, J.G. found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time gardening and exploring the natural beauty of his surroundings through 4-wheeling. These passions not only enriched his own life but also brought happiness to those who shared in these moments with him.

J.G. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Morgan and Verna Shell Morgan; his wife, Juanetta Moore Morgan; and his siblings, Kenneth Allen, James McCoy, Hobert Morgan, and Lois Morgan. Their memories remain a vital part of his story and legacy.

He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him with affection and respect. His presence in their lives was a source of warmth and strength, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.

J.G. Morgan’s life was one of purpose and quiet dignity, reflecting the values he held dear. As we honor his memory, we hold close the impact he had on his family, friends, and community—a lasting testament to a life well-lived.

Funeral: Friday, April 17, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Minister: Robbie Horton

*There will be full military rites performed by the Leslie County DAV Chapter #133*

Interment will follow at the Moore Family Cemetery, Highway #32 Moore-Messer Road, in Morehead, Kentucky

Visitation: Thursday, April 16th from  6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
