Jean Begley Hoskins, a compassionate and dedicated registered nurse, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, at the Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY at the age of 69. Born on June 2, 1954, in Leslie County, KY, the daughter of the late Burgin Begley and Bertha Gibson Begley. Jean's life was filled with love, service, and devotion to her family and community.
Jean began her distinguished career as a registered nurse after graduating from the University of KY. Over the course of 41 years, she tirelessly cared for countless patients, making a lasting impact on their lives. Her genuine concern for her patients and her impeccable work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of both her patients and colleagues. For 27 years, she served with unwavering commitment at the Leslie County Health Department before retiring from her nursing career.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jean was known for her strong personality and unwavering loyalty to her loved ones. She always put the needs of others before her own and importantly acted as a loving caregiver to her mother. Jean's selflessness knew no bounds as she made countless sacrifices to ensure that those she cared for received the best possible care and support.
When not fulfilling her caregiving duties, Jean cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Family gatherings and functions were occasions she treasured deeply as they allowed her to create lasting memories filled with joy and laughter.
In addition to being a devoted mother and grandmother, Jean had various hobbies that brought her great pleasure. She enjoyed sewing beautiful creations with love, losing herself in captivating books, solving intricate puzzle books that challenged her mind, engaging in friendly competition through computer games, and indulging in shopping excursions. Most of all though, she reveled in being an active participant in the lives of her family members. Jean was a beloved and respected member of the Stinnett Pentecostal Church
Services celebrating Jean's incredible life will be held on Wednesday - November 29, 2023. The Funeral Service will take place at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Homes, located at 155 Hickory Street, Hyden, KY. Visitation will begin be at 12:00 p.m. -until the funeral hour at 3:00 p.m. The service will commence at 3:00 PM with Rev. James Bowling, Jr. and Wayne Baker officiating. The interment will follow the service at the Begley Family Cemetery, Henry Fork Road, Hyden, KY providing an opportunity for friends, colleagues, and loved ones to pay their respects and honor Jean's life. The following will serve as her pallbearers: Steven Hoskins, Chase Hoskins, Trevor Gibson, William Dale Miracle, Jacob Sebastian and Timothy Wooton.
Jean Begley Hoskins leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry her memory with them. Jean's children, Steven Hoskins and Sonya, Chase Hoskins, David C. Begley will remember their devoted mother who nurtured them with unconditional love every day of their lives.
She is also survived by her brothers Curt Wayne Begley and Kenny Begley and Sharon, and sister Christine Wilson and Steve. Jean's cherished grandchildren Landon Hoskins and Summer Hoskins brought immense joy to her life through their infectious laughter and boundless energy.
Jean is reunited in eternity with her husband, Tommy Hoskins, parents Burgin Begley and Bertha Gibson Begley, sister Lillie Mae Begley, brothers James "Nag" Begley and Gran Begley. Their presence will be missed deeply but the memories shared will live on forever.
