The Obituary of Mrs. Jean Sizemore Campbell
Mrs. Jean Sizemore Campbell born July 18, 1929 departed this life on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Hazard A.R.H. Medical Center, Hazard, Ky. She was 89 years old. Jean was born at Blackey, Ky., the daughter of the late W.R. Sizemore & the late Virgie Banks Sizemore. Jean had a very distinguished career in education. She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught a total of 32 years. Jean taught at Hyden Elementary for 30 years, 1 year at Wooton & one year in Tipp City, Ohio. She was affectionately known by all her students as "Miss Jean". Jean was also very active in her church & community. She was a devoted member of the Hyden Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for over 60 years, taught the Girls' Auxillary, sang in the choir & was instrumental in Bible School each year. Jean was a member of the Hyden Chapter of the Eastern Star, having held all offices including Worthy Matron. Jean volunteered at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital in the gift shop auxillary, Hyden Health & Rehab Nursing Home, Habitat for Humanity and served on boards at the Local & Regional Health Dept. Jean volunteered her time at the Leslie County Public Library where she hosted "Story Time", a summer reading program. The Leslie Co. Public Library honored "Miss Jean" by naming a room in the library after her. Jean had a book of poetry published entitled "Life Is Round". The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere appreciation to Mr. Clifford Hamilton for his devoted effort & support in ensuring the publication of Jean's book of poetry, "Life Is Round". Mrs. Jean Sizemore Campbell was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Walter Sizemore, Merle Sizemore & Marshal Sizemore Survivors for Mrs. Jean Sizemore Campbell include a loving and devoted son, Jeffery Grant Campbell and his wife, Diane, of Hyden, Ky. three treasured grandchildren, Christy Hill, Dana Campbell & Kim, Jessica & Justin Poloni, three treasured great-grandchildren, Ella, Kayleigh, & Myles Avery, one beloved sister, Virginia Sue Mosley of Sellersburg, Indiana & special friend, Margaret Walker.
