James Pennington

Mr. James A. Pennington passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was 79 years old. James was born June 15, 1944 at Yeaddiss, KY., the son of the late, Bradley Pennington and the late, Rachel Causey Pennington. By occupation James had worked at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home as a young man. Later on he had worked as a coal miner for Blue Diamond Coal Co. & retired after 24 years. James had been a resident of Clay County for the past 30 years. James was affiliated with the Big Fork Church of God at Yeaddiss, KY. He enjoyed hunting, riding horses, digging ginseng and especially loved spending time with his family especially his great grandchildren, Lucas & Italy.

James A. was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Bradley Pennington & Rachel Causey Pennington, one cherished son, Eugene Pennington, two special sisters, Gladys Pennington & Sarah Bell and one special brother, Carl Pennington. He leaves the following relatives surviving; his loving & devoted wife of 54 years, Wilma Callahan Pennington, Manchester, KY., one cherished son, Elhanan Pennington, Manchester, KY., two cherished daughters, Phyllis Lewis and Tracy Lewis both of Manchester, KY., four special brothers, Elhanan Pennington, Liberty, KY., Lonnie Pennington & Donna, Hazard, KY., Harold Pennington & Caroline, Hazard, KY. and Darrell Pennington & Liz, Hazard, KY., seven special sisters, Frances Napier, Hazard, KY, Helen Myers, Hazard, KY., Perlina Fugate & Larry, Chicago, Ill., Jewel Harins & Eddy, Hazard, KY., Essie Pennington, Hazard, KY., Pauline Begley, Hazard KY., and Eulene Miller & Larry, Hazard, KY. five treasured grandchildren, Justin, Candace & husand, Steven, Dafinie, Covie and Cameron & five treasured great grandchildren, Sophia, Zoey, Jaxxon, Lucas and Italy. Also a host of treasured nieces, nephews & special cousins also survive.

Funeral: Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Ministers: Henry Lloyd Deaton and Michael Joseph

Interment: Pennington Family Cemetery, Manchester, KY.

Pallbearers: Steven Sizemore, Justin Lewis, Elhanan Pennington, Cameron Pennington, Covie Lewis, Roger Dean Mullins & Lucas Sizemore

Visitation: Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 5:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
