James Callahan

James Callahan was born November 25, 1977 in Hyden, Kentucky the son of the late, James Ford Callahan and Vivian Bernice Hendrix Callahan. He passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Yeaddiss, Kentucky. He was 48 years old. James had been a life-long resident of Leslie County. By occupation he was a Supervisor at Boyd Cat. He was carrying on the family tradition of hunting. He loved to bear hunt, deer hunt and fishing. He was member of the Coon Club, Fish & Game Club and Eastern KY Hunting Club. James was so kind, outgoing and loving.

James is preceded in death by his loving parents, James Ford Callahan and Vivian Bernice Hendrix Callahan, J.B. & Christine Kilbourn who raised him, paternal & maternal grandparents, sister, Heather Hall and brother, Mark Kilbourn. He is survived by his loving & devoted wife, Melinda Callahan, treasured son, Rylan Simpson, treasured daughters, Sasha Lambert & Kevin and Lakisha Holbrook & Jerry Coots, brothers, J.B. Callahan, David Kilbourn & Becky, Christopher Kilbourn & Becky and Robert Kilbourn, sisters, Marilyn Couch & Steven, Lora Callahan & Chris, Amy Callahan & Mike and Amanda Callahan and grandchildren, Aubrey Combs, Keely Combs, Landon Lambert, Bristol Lambert, McKenna Lambert, Serenity Coots, Kyzer Coots and one on the way. Also a host of other relatives & friends survive.

Funeral: Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hurts Creek Church of Christ, Hyden, KY.

Ministers: Chris Kilbourn & Joey Hoskins

Interment: Begley Cemetery, Wooton, KY.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. at the Church
