Irene Collins Melton

Mrs. Irene Collins Melton was born September 11, 1952 in Leslie Co., KY the daughter of the late, Melvin Collins and Essie Coots Collins. Irene passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital in Hyden, KY. Irene was 71 years old. Irene was a life long resident of Leslie County. She was a loving homemaker. Irene was a devoted & faithful member of the McIntosh Church of God at Wooton, KY. Irene enjoyed going to Church, listening to music, watching cooking shows, playing scrabble online, spending time with her family (especially her grandsons), reading, poetry and gardening.
 
Irene was preceded in death by her beloved parents, loving and devoted husband, George Steven Melton, treasured grandson, Brendan Amburgey, brothers, Earl, Melvin Jr., & Shirley & Jimmy Lee, sisters, Jerlene & Larry, Eloise, Virginia Ann & Burvel and Eveline & John and sister-in-law, Joan 

She leaves the following relatives surviving; one cherished son, Eric Melton (Jena), Wooton, KY,  two cherished daughters, Stephanie Hunt (Jason), Hazard, KY and Vanessa Amburgey (Robert), Leburn, KY, three sisters, Hilda Marie Carty,  Pauline Mitchell (Wilmer), Camden, Oh and Lorene Coots (Odell), Yeaddiss,  KY, two sisters-in-law, Edna Faye Collins and Lois Maggard (Dave), brother-in-law Bill Melton (Debbie), five treasured grandchildren, Owen Hunt, Spencer Hunt, Ethan Altizer, Chad Amburgey (Julia) and Kyle Amburgey, special friends, Eunice Parker and Villie "Lee" Asher and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives & friends survive.

Funeral: Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the McIntosh Church of God, Wooton, KY
