Helen Roberts Madden

Helen Madden passed away at Mary Breckenridge ARH on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the age of 92. Helen was born at Owls Nest, Leslie County, Kentucky on July 1, 1931, the middle daughter of Otis and Lottie Spurlock Roberts. Helen graduated with honors from Leslie County High School, Class of 1949. With the support of her parents Helen attended business school in Louisville, a two year program. 

Helen took great pride in her work ethic, working from an early age with her parents in their Leslie County Telephone Company. Helen used her business college skills all during her adult working career, working for Ford Motor Company at Peabody, Kentucky; the Leslie County Board of Education; legal secretary for attorney Denver Adams; court reporter for the Kentucky Department of Workers’ Claims and the Leslie County Commonwealth Attorney; and she also served as the Treasurer for the Leslie County Fiscal Court. 

As well as her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband Elmer Madden, her son Larry Lyons and grandson Josh Lyons, and her sisters Bernice Lewis and Lois Sizemore and nephews, Roger Lewis & Rick Lewis.

 Helen Madden of Owls Nest Road, Hyden, Kentucky is survived by her daughter Judge Renee Helene Muncy and her husband Mack, granddaughter Robin Colleen Muncy and her boyfriend Nick Holubowitch, daughter in law Colleen Lyons, nephew Ronnie Lewis, and niece Barbara Asher. Helen leaves many relatives, friends and neighbors to mourn her passing and also her best dog friend Cuda.

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Roberts Madden will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Monday, July 1, 2024 with Robbie Horton officiating at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home at Hyden, KY. Friends may call for visitation from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. the hour of the funeral service. Interment service will be private.
