Helen Hensley Kerns, born on March 11, 1939, in Hyden, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Miamisburg, Ohio. Helen was 86 years old. She was the daughter of the late, Marcus Hensley and Faye Morgan Hensley. She was a cherished and respected member of her community whose life was marked by love and dedication to her family.

Helen’s roots were deeply intertwined with the town of her birth, Hyden, where she spent her early years before moving on to build a life filled with meaningful relationships and lasting memories. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother whose presence brought warmth and strength to those around her.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Faye Morgan Hensley, her husbands, Ernest Ray Mattingly and Frank Kerns and a sister, Daisy. 

Helen is survived by her daughter, Marlene Mattingly Click, and her husband, David Click; as well as her son, Raymond Dean Picklesimer, and his wife, Kristy. Their enduring love and care for Helen stand as a testament to the close-knit family she nurtured throughout her life. Grandchildren Myria Click, Megan Click-Kelly, Samuel Picklesimer, Joshua Picklesimer, Sarah Picklesimer. Great Grandchildren Benton Kelly, Ruby Kelly, Aiden Click-Righi. Sisters, Vanda, Anna Mae, Barbara, Ruth and Gail  and Brothers, Ted, Elmer and Bobby. Also a host of nieces and nephews survive.


A graveside service honoring Helen’s life will be held on April 11, 2026 -  1:00 PM  at Hurricane Cemetery in Hyden, Kentucky. This gathering will provide family and friends an opportunity to commemorate her legacy and the indelible impact she left behind.

Helen Kerns will be remembered not only for her unwavering commitment to her family but also for the gentle kindness she extended to everyone she met. Her life stands as a tribute to the enduring power of love, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
