Harvey Madden, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 12, 2025, at Mary Breckinridge Hospital in Hyden, Kentucky. He was 54. He was born on March 6, 1971, in Illinois, and grew to be a dedicated individual who touched the lives of many through his work and passions.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Harvey exemplified commitment and service, values that carried into his civilian life as a self-employed carpenter. His skillful craftsmanship was a testament to his hard work and dedication, and he took great joy in his profession. Beyond work, Harvey was a true Harley Davidson enthusiast, often found reveling in the freedom of the open road.
Harvey cherished his time spent with family, and he is survived by two sons, James Madden and Jered Melton, and five daughters, Victoria Mitchell (Bryan), Patience Richmond (Joe),Glenda Rader and Summer Madden, and Robin Herald (Josh Gadow). He also shared a special bond with his companion, Georgie Melton, who provided unwavering support and love.
He was a proud grandfather to fourteen grandchildren: Nathaniel Vanover, Mackenzi Mitchell, Dajah Miller, Hunter Middleton, Trinity Mitchell, Kaylee Mitchell, Blaedryx Mitchell, Hayden Muse, Ashton Muse, Cason Richmond, Harryn Richmond, Payton Herald, Noah Herald, and Rozalynn Herald. His legacy lives on through them and the joyful memories they created together.
Harvey was also a caring brother to four sisters, Melva Lewis (Donnie), Alpha Lamb, Sancie Caldwell, and Eyvonne Banks. He is remembered fondly by his two nephews, Jason Madden (Kristin) and James Madden, as well as his two nieces, Billie Madden and Jessica Madden, all of whom held a special place in his heart, his special friends, George Maggard, Bobby Stevens and Jamie Boggs, his special dog Jax and a host of other special family members and friends.
Those who knew Harvey will remember his warmth, kindness, and zest for life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Madden, Sr. and Mabeline Morgan Madden, along with his siblings, James Michael Madden, Allen Wayne Madden and Dee Dee Anderson, and his nephew, Mitchell Madden.
Harvey Madden, Jr. will be deeply missed by family and friends alike, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. His special dog, Jax, also remains a cherished reminder of the joy Harvey brought into the lives of those around him.
