Ernest Kilburn

Mr. Ernest Kilburn passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center. He was 91 years old. Ernest was born May 21, 1931 at Yeaddiss, KY, the son of the late, Gordon Kilburn and the late, Lola Collins Kilburn. He had been a life long resident of Leslie Co. By occupation Ernest had worked at Food Fair Grocery in Hyden and for the Leslie County School System where he was a bus driver and custodian at the Hayes Lewis Elementary School. Ernest was the oldest surviving member at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, farming, playing guitar and banjo and he especially loved going to Church and spending time with his family.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Kilburn and Lola Collins Kilburn, loving and devoted wife, Mallie Kilburn, brothers, Bethel Kilburn, Otis Kilburn, Johnny Kilburn and sisters, Ollie Bentley, Vonda Kilburn, Delphia Cress, Dorothy Patrick, Rose Bailey, Mollie Couch and Shirley Kilburn. He leaves the following relatives surviving; one beloved son, Johnny Ray Johnson & Chick, Smilax, KY, six beloved daughters, Wanda Kilburn & James, Yeaddiss, KY, Brenda Pennington & Daniel, Smilax, KY, Maggie Sue Coots & Jr., Yeaddiss, KY, Linda Lewis & David, Smilax, KY, Renee Lewis & Andre, Smilax, KY and Vicky Hardin & Phillip, Clayhole, KY, one special brother, James Kilburn & Wanda, Yeaddiss, KY, 10 treasured grandchildren, Crystal, Tabitha, Brian, Doug, Candice, Brent, Kimberly, Byron, Brandon and Jadin, 20 treasured great grandchildren, and special friends, Eugene Joseph, Pat Whitaker and Marcus Shepherd. Also a host of treasured nieces and nephews and other relatives & friends survive.

Funeral: Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ, Smilax, KY.

Interment: Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ Cemetery, Smilax, KY.
