Elizabeth "Bess" Pace, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on September 23, 2024 at the Hyden Health & Rehab Center in Hyden, Kentucky. Bess was 96 years old. She was born in Thousandsticks, Kentucky, on October 11, 1927, marking her time in this world with a legacy of love and service.

Bess dedicated much of her life to her work, notably serving as a cook at Hyden Elementary and as a clerk at Dawahare & Wise Department Store. Her commitment to her career was matched only by her dedication to her family, as she took great joy in nurturing those she loved. Bess enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing, hobbies that reflected her nurturing spirit and creativity. Most importantly, she cherished the moments spent with her family, which were at the center of her life.

A member of the Thousandsticks United Methodist Church for over 50 years, Bess was proud of her faith and the community she fostered within the church. Her unwavering spirit and kindness touched the hearts of those who knew her, making her a significant presence in the lives of many.

Bess is survived by her two cherished sons, Ira Dean Pace (Edna) and William Henry Pace, Jr., along with three treasured grandchildren, Patty Pace, Elizabeth Pace, and Wendy Pace. Additional relatives and friends, who hold fond memories of Bess, also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Johnny Bailey and Lucy Sizemore Bailey, her loving husband, Henry Pace, her infant son, Johnny Ray Pace, as well as her siblings, Orpha Napier, Lige Bailey, Ira Bailey, Robert Bailey, Ann Nunemaker, and Maultie Baker. She is also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Patsy Pace.

As we remember Bess, we honor a life full of love, hard work, and devotion to family and faith. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Funeral: Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Ministers: Rev. Robert Amundsen and John Newell

Interment: Ira Begley Cemetery, Hyden, KY.

Visitation: Friday, Sept. 27, 2024 at 6:00-9:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
