Earl Lewis, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 27, 2023, at the Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY. He was born on July 2, 1951, in his hometown of Hyden, KY. Earl was known for his distinguished employment career as a miner for Whitaker Coal Company, where he worked tirelessly for 35 years.

Throughout his life, Earl had a deep appreciation for spending time with his family in the great outdoors. Whether it was hunting or fishing trips, he cherished every moment they shared together. Earl will always be remembered for his caring and sincere personality, which touched the lives of all who knew him.

Earl Lewis will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife Sharon Gail Morgan Lewis of Hyden, KY. His son Earl Wayne Lewis and wife Deanna of Hyden, KY will forever hold the memories they shared close to their hearts.

In addition to his immediate family members, Earl leaves behind cherished siblings: Eunice Parker of Hyden, KY; Connie Hubbard and husband Ray of Manchester, KY; Debbie Roberts and husband Tommy L. of Hyden, KY; Connie Laura Lewis of Hyden, KY.  Treasured grandchildren, Kaylyn Asher & Kendal Ralph Brock, Nicholas Dwayne Lewis & Kaitlyn  Morgan, treasured great-grandchildren, Colten Lee Brock & RayLynn Renee Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Ruby Bowling Lewis, brother Denver Lewis , brother Webb Lewis, and brother, Freddie Lewis. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Vanda Smith and  infant sister, Dorothy Lewis. Each was a cherished brother and sister who held a dear place in Earl's heart and Mack Southwood, a special friend also preceded him in death.

Earl found immense pride in his proudest accomplishment: his exemplary employment record at Whitaker Coal Company. The dedication and hard work he put into his career will forever be admired and appreciated.

A man of strong faith, Earl regularly attended the Kelly Fork Church of God in Perry County, KY. His faith brought a sense of guidance and comfort to his life.

Friends and family are invited to join in the celebration of Earl's life at the Funeral Service, which will take place at 2:00 PM on Sunday,  December 31, 2023, at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, LLC located at 155 Hickory Street in Hyden, KY.  Friends may call for visitation from 12:00 P.M. - until  the funeral service hour at 2:00 p.m with James Lucas officiating.  The interment will follow the funeral service in the Owl's Nest Cemetery, Hyden, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers: Nicholas Lewis,  Keith Lewis, Travis Lewis, Marc Roberts, Tony Lewis, Roy Woods, Joey Lewis, Cody Roberts,  Ricky Bowling, Chris Lewis & Eric Lewis.  The following will serve as honorary pallbearers Earl Wayne: Kenny Lewis, Colten Lee Brock, Kendal Ralph Brock & Ricky Morgan.

During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to all those whose lives were touched by Earl Lewis. May his memory warm your hearts and bring you peace.
