Dexter Collett

Mr. Dexter Collett born July 24, 1949 departed this life on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, Ky.  He was 72 years old.  Dexter was born at Asher, Ky., the son of the late Emanuel Collett and Edna Mosley Collett.  Dexter received his Bachelor's degree from Berea College, a master degree of fine arts from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and pursued his doctorate degree at the University of West Virginia in Morgantown, Ky .  He had a very distinguished literary career and in education.  Dexter was a professor at the University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg, Ky., & in the University of Ky. Community College System.  He taught at Hazard Community College, Somerset Community College and Southeast Community College in Cumberland, Ky.  He was the author of several books, which were published.  Dexter enjoyed writing and was a skilled stone mason.  Mr. Dexter Collett was preceded in death by his parents; Emanuel Collett and Edna Mosley Collett, three infant brothers & one treasured, niece, Angela Collett Feltner.  Mr. Dexter Collett leaves the following relatives surviving: two beloved brothers; Edmond Collett and wife, Edith of Asher, Ky., Alfred Collett and wife, Nila of Asher, Ky., cherished nieces; Mary Elizabeth Collett Hackworth, Francy Collett, Amy Collett, Mary Magdalene Collett, cherished nephews; Emanuel Collett, Jericho Sarador Collett & a host of other relatives and friends.

TIME AND PLACE OF FUNERAL: 1:00 p.m. - Sunday - August 29, 2021 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel, Hyden, KY

OFFICIATING MINISTER: Rev. Patrick Morgan, Lonnie Fee & Larry Sizemore reading the obituary.

TIME AND PLACE OF VISITATION: 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, Ky

PLACE OF INTERMENT: Pleasant Lee Collett Cemetery, (Ford Parker Rd.), Asher, Ky

PALLBEARERS: James Hackworth, Jericho Collett, Lonnie Fee, Denver Collett, Dwayne Collett and Larry Sizemore.
