Denver Ray Hoskins, a devoted father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on Tuesday November 26, 2024, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was 71 years old. Born on January 31, 1953, in Hyden, Kentucky, Denver was well-known for his hard work as a logger and log and coal truck driver. His dedication to his craft reflected the values instilled in him during his upbringing.
Denver enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought him joy and fulfillment. He had a deep appreciation for music and often spent evenings watching classic westerns and episodes of Andy Griffith on television. Fishing was another passion of his, as he cherished those peaceful moments spent by the water, often accompanied by family.
His family was his pride and joy. Denver is survived by his beloved son, James Hoskins and wife, Allison; his cherished daughter, Marlana Morris and husband, James. He also leaves behind three loving sisters, Carolyn Brock and husband, Dwight; Mary Short and husband, Graylen; and Patricia Sue Hubbard and husband, Joe. Denver was blessed with nine grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart: Kassidy Napier and husband, Austin; Christin Collett; Dustin Morris and wife, Amber; Tate Morris and wife, Hailey; Daxton Hoskins and Jami; Dillon Hoskins and Brianna; Rebekah Hoskins; Norah Hoskins; and Bjorn Hoskins. Additionally, he took great delight in the company of his seven great-grandchildren, Natalie, Harlow, Daxton, Micah, Gavin, Dawson, and Harper. Denver also shared a close bond with his best friend and cousin, Wes Brock, and is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other cousins who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Nora Sizemore Hoskins, as well as two sons, Denver Hoskins and Joseph Ray Hoskins. Denver also mourned the loss of two brothers, David and Eugene Hoskins, one sister, Linda, and twin sisters, Gewadene and Evelene.
The legacy of Denver Ray Hoskins will surely live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his love for his family, and the kindness he extended to others throughout his life. May he rest in peace.
