Dennis Shepherd

Dennis Shepherd, a beloved Pastor of the Wooton Church of Christ and dedicated Sunday School Teacher, passed away on July 25, 2024 at Mary Breckinridge ARH Hospital in Hyden, KY. at the age of 74.  Dennis was born on October 19, 1949, the son of the late Kelly Shepherd and Oma Baker Shepherd,  Dennis spent his entire life in Leslie County, KY. He was known for his kind-hearted nature and unwavering devotion to his family. Dennis had a passion for watching wrestling on TV and was a loyal U.K. fan for many years. His commitment to his church and community touched the lives of those around him. 

He was preceded in death by  his loving and devoted parents, Kelly and Oma Baker Shepherd, one brother, David, one brother-in-law, Paul Kilburn, two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Shepherd and Helen Adams Shepherd. Among those grieving his absence are two devoted sisters, Irene Kilburn of Wooton, KY, and Geneva Shepherd of Wooton, KY; two brothers, Freddie Shepherd of Wooton, KY and Jimmy Shepherd of Wooton, KY; five nephews - Gregg Kilburn, Adrian Shepherd, Shannon Shepherd, Aidan Shepherd, Mason Bradley; and four nieces - Crystal Evans (Scott), Kelly Bradley, Paige Shepherd, Lyndsey Shepherd. Additionally, Dennis leaves behind a host of other cherished relatives and friends who will always carry fond memories of him.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30  from  12:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service from 2:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home with Russell Baker and Donnie Joseph officiating. This is an opportunity for all who knew Dennis to come together to remember him with love and respect. Dennis Shepherd will be deeply missed but his legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Interment will follow at the John R. Hendrix Shepherd Cemetery at Wooton, KY with the following serving as pallbearers, Adrian Shepherd, Scott Evans, Shannon Shepherd, Donnie Joseph and Russell Baker.
