Delano (Del) Baker born June 12, 1968 in Ohio, passed away February 1, 2026 in Lexington, Kentucky. Del worked 25 years at the Leslie County Board of Education as a Certified Bus Mechanic and a substitute bus driver. He also enjoyed hunting with his son-in-law, Andrew and his bubbies: Austin Eversole, Cyrus Eversole, and Stanely Eversole. In addition to tinkering with old cars and four-wheelers, he also enjoyed working in the garden and joking around with his family, grandkids, and friends. He also enjoyed watching his television shows and movies.
Delano is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Baker just 34 days shy of 36 years of marriage, two daughters: Rhonda Renee Baker-Eversole (Andrew) of Wooton and Melissa Ann Stidham of Tennessee, three grandsons: Dakota Hunter Eversole, Colton Lee Eversole, Aiden Carter Wohlford (Presley); one brother: Gary Wayne Baker (Tonya); and mother-in-law: Sandy Wells. Del is also survived by a host of family and friends.
Del is preceded in death by his parents: Pearlie Clark Baker and Kurtis Boyd Baker; Brother-in-law: Steven P. Wells; step-father: Tommy Wells, Sr., and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A visitation for Mr. Delano Baker will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 5pm to 9pm at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Hyden, Ky. His funeral will take place on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11am at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Melton officiating. Interment will follow at the Baker Cemetery in Hyden, Kentucky.
