Clinton Dale Kilburn, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on May 14, 2025, at Hazard ARH Medical Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was 85 years old. Born on January 18, 1940, in Wooton, Kentucky, Clinton led a life marked by hard work, deep familial ties, and unwavering dedication.
Clinton enjoyed a fruitful career as a retired coal miner and truck driver, contributions that reflect his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. He had a very distinguished worked career for 30 years. He was employed by Blue Diamond Coal Co., Leatherwood, Ky and Kentucky Mountain Mining.. Outside of his professional life, he found immense joy in gardening and yard work, passions that allowed him to connect with nature and take pride in his surroundings. A fan of U.K. basketball, he eagerly followed the games, sharing in the excitement of each season. However, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family, a foundation that remained central to his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Cornett Kilburn, whom he married on July 8, 1971, and their son, Carlin Kilburn, with his wife Michelle. Clinton is also remembered fondly by his brother, Jeffery Kilburn & his wife, Rhoda, and sister, Connie Minix, along with her husband Victor. His spirit lives on in his granddaughter, Karleigh "Peewee" Kilburn, who was a source of pride and joy for him. Additionally, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends continue to cherish the memories they have of Clinton.
Clinton was preceded in death by his parents, Carter Kilburn and Eliza Melton Kilburn, as well as his brother Carlin Kilburn. He mourned the loss of his sisters Pamela, Phyllis, and Andrea, along with several infant siblings and various nieces and nephews. Their memories remain a part of his life's tapestry and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his family.
Clinton Dale Kilburn will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his love of the outdoors, and his unyielding kindness. His legacy of love and hard work will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
