C. Allen Muncy

C. Allen Muncy, a dedicated community servant and prominent local businessman, passed away on August 30, 2025, at the Hazard ARH in Hazard, Kentucky.  He was 79 years old. C Allen was born on December 25, 1945, in Hyden, Kentucky, he became a cornerstone of his community through his various roles and contributions over the years.

C. Allen was a graduate of Leslie County High School, class of 1964, and continued his education at Eastern Kentucky University, where he studied political science and history. His academic pursuits were complemented by his active participation in the ROTC and membership in the National Society of Pershing Rifles for two years. He later attended law school and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1972, showcasing his commitment to public service and leadership.

Throughout his career, C. Allen made significant impacts as a business owner and a public servant. He chaired the LKLP C.A.C. in 1975 and was celebrated for his ownership of Leslie Oil Co. and Leslie Lumber Co. His involvement with the Leslie Co. Water Board further exemplified his investment in community development. One of his notable achievements was the construction of the Richard M. Nixon Center, which was dedicated by President Nixon himself on July 2, 1978.C Allen served as the Leslie County Judge Executive from 1974 to 1982 and again from 1989 to 1993, holding an esteemed reputation among those he represented. C Allen was elected county judge at the age of 29, one of the youngest people to be elected and serve the office in the state of Kentucky.

An active member of the Anna C. Brush Church, Christopher was known for his friendly, talkative, and outgoing personality, touching the lives of all who knew him. His commitment to community and public service reflected the values he held dear throughout his life.

C. Allen is survived by his beloved family, including his brothers Bill Muncy (Peggy), Vernon Muncy (Charlene "Chub")), and Philip Muncy (Chesney), as well as his sister Peggy Muncy Buckle. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews: Billy Muncy, Lloyd Muncy, Jerry Muncy, Peggy Ann Lowler, Debbie Dominguez, Wendy Bentley, Steve Muncy, Brian Muncy, Ricky Muncy, Tammy Marsh, Cindy Stacy, Donna Korula, Lura Encinias, Jo Hudson, Christy Muncy, Chrissy Buckle, Kenneth Buckle, Robin Whitaker, Philip John Muncy, and Tina Muncy Couch, along with a host of great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Marshal Muncy and Hattie M. Begley Muncy, along with his siblings Lloyd Edison Muncy, Susan J. Muncy Bunch, John Muncy Jr., and Christine Muncy Hoard. He also mourns the loss of cherished nieces and nephews Russell Allen Hoard, David Allen Muncy, Carolyn Kay Fresse, and Keith Acre, Jr., and holds a special place in his heart for his great nephew, Thomas Jackson Sizemore.

Visitation services for C. Allen Muncy will be held on September 3, 2025, at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel, beginning at 6:00 PM. The funeral service will take place the following day, September 4, 2025, at the Anna C. Brush Church at 1pm., with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis and John Newell officiating.  The interment will follow in the Muncy Family Cemetery, Dryhill Road, Hyden, Ky.

C. Allen Muncy was a mentor to many, an advocate of education and a strong supporter of community and home. He truly believed our young were the heart of a community. 

C. Allen Muncy will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for the warmth and kindness he extended to others. His legacy will undoubtedly live on through the lives he touched and the community he passionately served.

Funeral: Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 1pm - Anna C. Brush Church Church, Dryhill Road, Hyden, KY.

Interment: Muncy Family Cemetery, Dryhill Road in Hyden, KY
