Boyd Dale Brock, a devoted husband, friend, and retired coal miner, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at his residence. He was 74 years old. He was born on May 21, 1950, in Bell County, Kentucky, where he spent his formative years surrounded by the beauty of the Appalachian landscape.
During his career as a coal miner, Boyd dedicated himself to his work, becoming the proud owner of a mine reclamation. His industrious spirit and commitment to the earth and its resources were evident throughout his professional journey. After retirement, Boyd channeled his labor into his hobbies, which included farming and construction, allowing him to remain connected to the land he loved. His greatest joy, however, came from spending quality time with his family, who were the light of his life.
Boyd is survived by his loving wife, Judy Chappell Brock, and his father, Ray Brock. He is also mourned by his brothers, Dwight Brock (and Carolyn), Teddy Brock (and Rose), McKinley Brock (and Michelle), Gary Brock (and Margaret), and Patrick Brock (and Regina). Boyd leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will cherish their memories of him.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Nannie Mae Short Brock, and his sister, Joan Brock. Boyd's legacy will endure through the stories and enduring love shared among those who knew him well. His passing marks the end of an era, but the impact he made on his family and community will long be remembered.
