Billie Carol Sizemore Hoskins, a beloved figure in her community, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, in her cherished hometown of Hyden, Kentucky. Born on October 8, 1959, Billie dedicated her life to nurturing the minds of future generations as a retired teacher with the Leslie County Board of Education. Her profound impact on the lives of her students a testament to her enduring kindness and caring spirit, both as an educator and as an individual.
Billie’s thirst for knowledge led her to pursue her education at Lincoln Memorial University, where she laid the groundwork for her noble profession. She further perfected her craft at Eastern Kentucky University, earning her Master’s of Education, Rank I. Her dedication to learning was matched only by her commitment to her community, where she actively engaged in numerous groups, including The Red Hat Society and a group chat for the Leslie County High School Class of 1977. Billie’s zest for life extended into her leisure time, where she relished attending music festivals, square dancing, indulging in her love of reading, and fostering her affection for dogs.
The warmth of Billie’s personality and her unwavering support for those around her created a vast network of friends and admirers. She was a devoted member of the Church of God, where her faith and compassion touched many lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Hoskins Collett, and Landry, East Bernstadt, Kentucky; her brother, Tim Sizemore, and Linda of London, Kentucky; and her sister, Linda Sizemore of Hyden, Kentucky. Billie also leaves behind these grandchildren: Drew Daly, Landry Aaron Collett, Andi Rose Collett, and Ally Stewart. They, along with countless friends, will carry forward Billie's legacy of love and encouragement.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Billy and Rowena Sizemore, along with her loving husband, Arthur Hoskins. Their memories forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Friends and family are invited to honor and celebrate Billie's life during the visitation on July 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Walker Funeral Homes Hyden, Kentucky.
