Betty Frances Tweed Mosley, age 93, passed away on March 3, 2026, at the Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. Born on January 11, 1933, in Whiterock, North Carolina, she was a beloved figure in her community and a cherished member of her family.
Betty's journey led her to Lexington, Kentucky, where she made a significant impact through her work as a private piano instructor and as a devoted homemaker. Her passion for music was evident as she shared her talent with many, nurturing a love for the art in her students. In 1976, she moved to Hyden, where she became a fixture in the local community. A steadfast member of the Muncy Creek Baptist Church since that time, she dedicated her musical skills as the church pianist, contributing greatly to the congregation's worship.
A woman of deep faith, Betty was known for her kindness, warmth, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed playing the piano, attending local shows, and listening to gospel music. Betty took great pleasure in caring for her flowers in planter boxes, and her love for family was at the heart of everything she did.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Elihu Mosley (Susan) and Johnny Mosley; her daughter, Martha Florence Wells; grandchildren, Cheryl Baker (Joey), Laura Beth Jenkins, Hannah Joanne Napier (Asa), McKinley Seth Mosley, Gabriel Ryan Morgan, Lynzie Taylor Morgan and Izaiah Ford Morgan and great-grandchildren, Christopher McKinley Baker, Sadie Mosley, Freda Amelia Napier, Sadie Elizabeth Jade Mosley, Tatum Reese Mosley, Freda Amelia "Milie" Faye Napier and Cooper Jenkins Additionally, she is survived by a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Tweed and Verdie Ponder Tweed; her beloved husband, McKinley Mosley; her brothers, William Tweed, James Tweed, Robert "Bobby" Tweed, and Iva Glen Asher; and her son-in-law, Terry Wells.
Betty Frances Tweed Mosley will be remembered for her generous spirit, her unwavering faith, and the profound love she shared with all those fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and community.
Funeral: Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Muncy Creek Baptist Church, Hyden, KY.
Ministers: Rev. Kelly Fields, Rev. Ronnie Melton and Robbie Horton
Interment: Begley-Morgan Cemetery, Hyden, KY.
