Betty Sue Baker

August 19, 1954 — August 21, 2019

On August 21, 2019, God took Mrs. Betty Sue Melton Baker home to heaven. She was born on August 19, 1954, to Edgar Paul Melton and Mabel Bowling Melton. Betty was a mother and grandmother figure to many people in her life long residence of Wooton, Kentucky. She was a life-long member of the Wooton Evangelical Presbyterian Church at Wooton, KY. She worked many jobs from bookkeeper to WB Muncy School secretary, but her greatest passion and achievement was being a wife to Jerry Lynn, a mother to Rebecca Lynn, and most importantly, grandmother to her only grandson, Jax, who was the light of her life. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and extended family, and being her nurturing, comical, and giving self to others. Everyone loved Betty Sue: she was an angel on earth.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Mabel, who on August 21, 2019, was able to see her again as she walked through the gates of heaven. She leaves surviving her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Jerry Baker of Wooton. She also leaves surviving her only daughter, her whole world, and best friend, Becky, of Georgetown, and her only grandson, Jax-who has her whole heart. She leaves two loving sisters, Rhonda (Wayne) Reid of London, and Mary Lou (Wallace) Warfield of Lexington, along with a long host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. Betty also leaves behind Kelsey and Brady Crisp of Wooton, who were not biological grandchildren, but were so very close to her heart.

Betty’s visitation will be Friday, August 23, 6-9 pm in Hyden, KY at Walker Funeral Home. Her funeral services for memories of a life that's been loved will be Saturday, August 24 at noon with Andrew Farmer & Merle Caudill officiating.

Pall Bearers for Betty will be a few of the men that helped carry her in life: Brady Crisp, Sam Howard, DJ Howard, Shannon Crisp, Adam Dotson, Mark King, Rodney Everman, James Baker & Jim Caudill & her Honorary Pallbearer will be the love of her life, Jaxon Sams.

Immediately following the funeral, Betty's earthly body will be laid to rest at Brewer Cemetery in Wooton, Ky. in a gravesite near her dear Grandmother Melton.
