Angela A. Whitaker

Angela A. Whitaker, born on September 1, 1938, in Hyden, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, KY. She was 87 years old.

Angela's life began and flourished in Hyden, a community that remained close to her heart throughout the years. Through decades of loving devotion to her family and kindness to all who knew her, Angela built a meaningful legacy that endures today.

She is remembered with admiration and love by her children, Walter G. Sizemore and wife, Teresa & Mac Whitaker and wife, Cindy,  Angela's devotion extended to her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: Kyle Douglas Sizemore and his wife, Emily, Ariana Roberts and her husband, Bobby, Floyd Whitaker and his wife, Melissa, Makenzie Collins, Misty Frazier and her husband, James, and Andrea Melton and her husband, Wayne. Also 12 Great Grandchildren & 5 Great-Great Grandchildren. Each of them carries Angela’s guidance and warmth within their own stories.

Angela is also remembered by the memory of her beloved mother, Mary Rose Cornett; her son, Arbirt Daniel; and grandson-in-law, Jacob Collins, all of whom preceded her in death. Their lives shaped hers and will remain a cherished part of her story.

Her presence in the family was the foundation of many cherished moments—each memory a testament to her care, integrity, and unwavering love. Angela’s legacy will be continued by those she held dear, reflected in every memory shared and every lesson passed on.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Walker Funeral Homes, LLC, 155 Hickory Street, Hyden, KY 41749. Following visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Jerry McKinley Holland officiating.  All who wish to honor and remember Angela’s remarkable life are welcome to attend. Burial will follow in the Arbirt Daniel Whitaker Family Cemetery, Hyden, Kentucky. The following will serve as pallbearers: Dalton Sizemore, Floyd Whitaker, Mac Whitaker, Bobby Roberts, Kyle Sizemore and Walter G. Sizemore. 

Angela A. Whitaker’s kindness, devotion, and spirit will be deeply missed and forever treasured by her loving family and all who were privileged to know her.
