Alice Wells

Alice Hoskins Wells  was born on May 6, 1948, in Hyden, KY to her parents Willie and Laura Howard Hoskins. She lived a fulfilling life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker. On May 20th, 2023, Alice passed away at the age of 75 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center in Hazard, KY.

Alice was a woman of simple pleasures. She enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers in her spare time. She was also an avid fisherwoman and loved playing horseshoes. Her favorite pastime was watching University of Kentucky basketball games as she was an ardent fan.

Alice's proudest accomplishment was being crowned the horseshoe champion among her family members. She took immense pride in this achievement that brought her immense joy.

Alice is survived by two loving sons: Robert Allen Wells of Wooton, KY and James Edward Wells (Kim) of Fisty, KY; three devoted daughters: Linda Smith (Jim) of Lost Creek, KY, Laura Fitch (Randy) of Paintsville, KY, and Wilma Wells of Wooton, KY; seven cherished grandchildren: Allison Hoskins & (Evan), Holly Losito & (Scotty), Sherri Gross & (Rusty), Kristen Rice & (Patrick), Seth Fitch, Brandon Whitaker & (Kaitlyn), Ashton Eldridge, twelve cherished great grandchildren and two special friends, Oma Wells and Denver Wells, Also a host of other relatives & friends survive.

Alice's beloved husband Robert Wells preceded her in death as did one daughter Lisa Wells; two brothers Arthur Richardson and Stanley Hoskins, two great grandsons Aiden Hoskins and Owen Baker.

The visitation will be held at the Walker Funeral Home located at 155 Hickory Street in Hyden on May 25th from 6 pm -9 pm  while the funeral service will be on May 26th at the same venue at 1:00 p.m.,  with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis. Rev. Tommy Fields and Hobart Couch officiating Burial will follow in the Full Gospel Church Cemetery at Smilax, KY

Alice blessed many people during her lifetime and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and loving nature. Her departure has left an enormous void in the lives of her family and friends, who share many wonderful memories of her. 

The following will serve as pallbearers: Randy Fitch, Jim Smith, Seth Fitch, Patrick Rice, Rusty Gross, Evan Hoskins, Scotty Losito, Robert Wells, James Wells and Daniel Hendrix.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Wells and Buddy Wells.
