Alexander Begley, a devoted family man and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, at his home in Richlands, Virginia. Born on December 29, 1948, in Leslie County, Kentucky, Alexander lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a deep love for those around him.
Alexander's educational journey began at Cumberland College, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He furthered his studies with a master's degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky, exemplifying his commitment to learning and personal growth.
A man of varied interests and passions, Alexander found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid supporter of UK basketball, reveling in the excitement and community spirit of the games. Fishing brought him peace and connection to nature, a pastime he particularly enjoyed at Lake Cumberland. His affection for his special cat, B., was well known among family and friends, a testament to his gentle and caring nature.
Alexander's family was the core of his existence. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Jeffery Alexander Begley (Heather); his two grandsons, Kaleb Alexander Heatch (ShaHanna), and Noah James Begley, who brought immense joy to his life. His brother, Hetch Begley, Jr.(Sheila) and sister, Brenda Smith (John), also survive him. Alexander’s life was enriched by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives, as well as a host of close friends who mourn his passing and celebrate his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hetch Begley and Bernice Deaton Begley, and his loving and devoted wife, Regenia Rice Begley, whose memories remain cherished in the hearts of all who knew them.
Alexander’s legacy is one of steadfast love, kindness, and a quiet strength that inspired those around him. His memory will continue to be a guiding light for his family and friends, who find comfort in the treasured moments shared and the enduring bonds of kinship.
In honoring Alexander Begley's life, we remember a man who embraced the joys of education, the serenity of nature, and the irreplaceable warmth of family. His spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
