Ada Sizemore Lewis, born August 8, 1924, a life long resident of Smilax, Leslie Co., Kentucky, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the age of 86 years & 3 months. Ada was preceded in death by her parents, Harmon & Mallie Sizemore and her husband of 57 years, Cecil. She was preceded in death by two children, Johnny Harmon Lewis & Glenna Mae Lewis Jackson, three brothers, Elmer Sizemore, JL Sizemore & Glenn Sizemore, one sister, Nellie Murphy & one son-in-law, Ike Thompson. Ada is survived by three sons, James Lewis & Betty of Wooton, Ky., Cecil Lewis, Jr. & Robin of London, Ky. & Dwight David Lewis & Peggy of Yeaddiss, Ky. & by ten daughters, Lillian Ruth Gross & Johnie of Yeaddiss, Ky., Mallie Horn & Johnny of Hazard, Ky., Mary Quist & Rick of Chantilly, VA., Phyllis Osborne & Bob of Danville, Ky., Effie Carol McKeehan & Merle of Union, Ky., Linda Faye Brown & Gary of Lexington, Ky., Barbara Lewis of Smilax, Ky., Robin Elaine Thompson of Lexington, Ky., Patricia Diane L. Day & Danny of Smilax, Ky. & Deborah Lewis White & Joe of Smilax, Ky., by one brother Bob Sizemore & Marie of Cornettsville, Ky., & two sisters, Linda Lewis & Rose Adams of Smilax, Ky,, son-in-law, Larry Jackson of Goshen, Ky., 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great-grandchildren. Ada is also survived by a host of treasured nieces & nephews, family & friends. Ada was the devoted wife to her beloved Cecil and a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother to her children & grandchildren. Ada was a courageous, hard working and strong woman who always radiated a special smile whenever children were around. Ada loved taking care of all of those around her, especially her children and grandchildren. Ada was a great cook and loved cooking for her loved ones and to all who came into her home, making sure that no one left her home hungry. Ada was an excellent seamstress having spent years making clothes for her children and grandchildren and enjoyed quilting and crocheting, giving handmade treasures of quilts and afghans as gifts to her family members over the years. Ada also enjoyed gardening, working crossword puzzles and reading the Bible and Daily Bread. For the last several years, Ada was a fixture at the basketball games, school dinners, award events and graduations of her beloved grandchildren who brought her so much joy and laughter throughout the years. Ada's passing has left a void which will never be filled in the lives of those who loved her so much. Funeral services for Ada Sizemore Lewis will be conducted on Thursday, November 11, 2010 , at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel, Hyden, Ky., with Chris Sale, Harold Turner and Billy Joe Lewis officiating. The interment will follow in the Larkin Lewis Cemetery, Smilax, KY. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel.
