The obituary of Mr. Tom Witt Officiating Minister Rev Billy Joe Lewis Mr. Tom Witt born January 2, 1916 departed this life on February 17, 2008 at the age of 92 years, 1 months and 15 days old. He was born at Wooton, Kentucky, the son of the late John Witt and the late Milda Wooton Witt. By occupation Tom was a retired employee for the Hyden Hardware and Olin Warehouse. He had Been a life-long resident of Leslie County with the exception of having lived in Mt. Vernon, Ky., for the past 30 years. Mr. Tom Witt was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #664. Some of his hobbies he enjoyed were gardening flowers, watching basketball and baseball. Mr. Tom Witt was preceded in death by his parents: John & Milda Witt; three brothers: Elmer, Claude and Charles. He leaves surviving the following relatives: One Son: John Witt & Wife Cheryl of Mt. Vernon, KY. One Daughter: Nancy Cornett & Husband Wendell of Slemp, KY. One Granddaughter: Cindy Ham & Husband Tim Three Grandsons: William Witt, Wendell Cornett, Jr. And Roger Cornett One Great Granddaughter: Emily Ham Three Great Grandsons: Alex Ham, Richard Cornett and Dylan Cornett He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Tom Witt will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday , February 19, 2008 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Hyden, KY, with the Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday February 18, 2208 at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Brewer Cemetery located at Wooton, KY. The following served as pallbearers: William Witt, Tommy Witt, Richard Witt, Rodger Cornett, Wendell Cornett, Sr., Tim Ham and Keith Landrum.
