Jerry Holland Mr. Melvin Farmer born June 25, 1933 departed this life on October 21, 2008 at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 26 days old. By occupation he was retired Heavy Equipment Operator with the Surface Construction Industry and had worked for Bizak, Greer, and Caudill Construction Company. Mr. Melvin Farmer was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Leslie County D.A.V. and had been a former Mason, he enjoyed sports and his grandchildren. He was affiliated with the East Manchester Church of God. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents: Chester & Darcus Howard Farmer; Wife: Shelby Jean Couch Farmer; One Grandson: Jon Lynn Farmer,One Sister: Beulah Wilson. He leaves surviving Five Sons: Wendell Farmer of Bear Branch, KY, Jerry Farmer & Geneva of Corbin,. KY, Brian Farmer & Tasha of Bear Branch, KY, Brandon Farmer of Bear Branch, KY, Brent Farmer of Bear Branch, KY, One Daughter: Rhonda Osborne & David of Hyden, KY; Five Brothers: Carl Farmer of Knoxville, TN, John Farmer of Augusta, GA, Derek Farmer of Stinnett, KY, Cova Howard of Dayton, OH, Ryan Farmer of Hyden, KY, One Sister: Loretta Wilson of Harrodsburg, KY; Eight Grandchildren: Andrew Farmer, Olivia Farmer, Justin Osborne, Aaron Osborne, Beth Farmer, Jenna Farmer, Kayla Farmer & Tracy Davidson; Three Special Nieces: Debbie, Karen and Vickie. Also survived by a host of other treasured relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Farmer will be held at 1 p.m. -Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Couch's Fork Church of God at Bear Branch, KY with Rev. Curtis Wagers, Rev. Andy Turner and Rev. Jerry Holland officiating. Burial will follow in the Farmer~Couch Cemetery at Bear Branch, KY with full military rites observed by the Leslie County D.A.V. Chapter #133. The following will serve as pallbearers: Wendell Farmer, Jerry Farmer, Brian Farmer, Brandon Farmer, David Osborne , Justin Osborne, Aaron Osborne, Brent Farmer, Andrew Farmer, Harry Branson, Ryan Farmer, Senior Ray Smallwood, Eddie Spurlock, Paul Baker, Ricky Sandlin and Marshall North. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. - Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Couch's Fork Church of God.
