Mrs. Ona Hamilton Engle born September 15, 1928 departed this life on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center, Hazard, Ky. She was 89 years old. Ona was born at Wooton, Ky., the daughter of the late Dr. Daniel Freeman Hamilton & Susie Vanover Hamilton. Ona was a homemaker and a life-long resident of Smilax - Leslie Co. She enjoyed wriitng and reading poetry, sewing, gardening, canning, cooking & her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Ona was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Ona Hamilton Engle was preceded in death by her parents, her loving and devoted husband; Junior Engle, beloved son; Clyde Engle, son-in-law, Cletis Caudill, step-brother; Bill Miller, and a host of sisters. Mrs. Ona Hamilton Engle leaves the following relatives surviving; beloved daughters; Carolyn Sue Wayne and husband, Paul of Richmond, Virginia, Patricia Ann Otakie and husband, Gary, of Savannah, Georgia, Lorraine Caudill of Cornettsville, Ky., Sandra Kay Wilson and husband Danny of Smilax, KY, treasured grandchildren; Antoinette Wayne & Paul, Samantha Maggard & Jamie, Valerie Roxanne Frazier & Charlie, Kristie Deryder & Jeff, Bridgette, David Matthew Otakie & Shauna, Hazel Wilson, treasured great-grandchildren; Dustin Frazier, Alex Wayne, Jacob Frazier, Jordon Nicole Deryder, Sophie Otakie, special sister-in-law, Linda Maggard, special niece; Eliza Rigney, special friend: Hattie Farler & and her precious dog: Velvet also a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their heartfelt, sincere appreciation to the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home & Staff, Mary Breckinridge Hospital A.R.H., Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center, the staff of the Appalachian Heart Center & Dr. Murad for the professional, genuine and sincere care they provided Ona.
